Sam Russo - Refuse To Lose

Turning acoustic songs in full-blown punk-rock pop bangers during lockdown in a global pandemic? Yeah, why not!

Sam and Chris came into the studio to record the guitars and vox, engineered by Matty Moon, while Dan Andriano recorded his bass remotely in the states, and Garth Vickers recorded his drums up north.

I took the lot and mixed roughly in the Chris Lord Alge with a bit more grit, and used a fashionable trick of pushing the vocals back quite a way in order to increase the “size” and impact of the overall sound. I didn’t quite do it as much as the contemporary Menzingers record though. There are limits.

The result is pretty pounding, The Window in particular is a big summer anthem!
